FIBROMYALGIA
It is a neurological disease, until time of indeterminate origin, characterized by pain and extreme sensitivity of muscles, joints and even the skin to the touch. It affects less than 5% of the general population, having a predilection for the female sex. Despite establishing the age of onset in adulthood, cases have been present in adolescence and in advanced age.

What can i feel
- Feeling of Fatigue and extreme tiredness
- Non-restorative sleep.
- Body ache
- Difficulty performing daily activities
- Alterations in mood: Sadness, depression.
- Recent memory changes and difficulty concentrating.
- Alterations in bowel habits, gastroesophageal reflux, irritable bowel syndrome.
- Overactive bladder
How do I know if I have it?
It is a diagnosis of exclusion, that is, after ruling out another cause of pain, we can reach it. In view of pain being a non-quantifiable symptom, a series of criteria have been established that lead us to think that we may have fibromyalgia- Pain and symptoms (1 week long)
- Number of sore areas on the body: 19 or more.
- Plus one level of severity for these symptoms: Tiredness, Waking up tired, Cognitive problems (memory or thinking); plus various other general physical symptoms.
- Symptoms that remain at a similar level for at least three months.
- There is no other health problem that could explain the pain and other symptoms.
How can I treat it?
Go to a specialist: Rheumatologist, who together with the rehabilitation technician will help you establish the necessary treatment. Reduce triggers: Improve your stress, eat better, sleep at least 8 hours continuously, drink enough water and establish an exercise routine.For more information, contact us. We are here to help you.
